For some years, I remember feeling a little despondent at rising divorce rates. Over 50% now. However, I remember reading a stat that 5% of marriages last 50 years. That cheered me up. The institution of marriage is not doing so bad after all. :-)
Context matters, of course. Mostly half full, sometimes half empty...
